Frequently asked questions

Which photos does it work with?

It is made for photos of people: portraits, selfies and half-body shots. Objects, animals and very small figures may be detected less precisely. To remove the background completely instead, use Remove Background.

Why does the first run take longer?

The first time, a small AI model (about 7 MB) is downloaded from Hugging Face and stored by your browser. After that it starts quickly, even offline.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The AI runs in your browser. Only the model file is downloaded; your photos never leave your device.

Is the resolution reduced?

Photos larger than 2560 pixels on the long side are reduced to 2560 px so it also runs smoothly on phones. That is plenty for social media; for a smaller file, use Compress Image afterwards.
