Compress Video

Phone videos are often hundreds of megabytes, too big for WhatsApp, email or Discord. Drop your video, pick a resolution and compression level, and Fotudio re-encodes it on your device into a much smaller MP4.

Your images stay on your device. Processing happens entirely in your browser.

How to use Compress Video

  1. Drop or choose your video (MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV).
  2. Choose the compression level and resolution. 720p is usually ideal for messaging apps.
  3. Click “Compress Video” and download the smaller MP4.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my video get?

A 4K or 1080p phone video reduced to 720p usually shrinks by 70–90%. “Small file” compresses the most, “High quality” keeps the picture sharpest.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Compression runs on your device with your browser’s hardware video encoder, so nothing is sent to a server and there’s no upload wait, even for big files.

Which browsers are supported?

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Opera and Safari, and Firefox 130 or newer. Very old browsers can’t process video.

What if my video is too long?

Cut the part you need with Trim Video first, then compress it here for a much smaller file.
