Blur Faces

Protect people’s privacy before you share a photo. Faces are found automatically and pixelated, blurred or covered; drag on the photo to add a box for any face that was missed.

Your images stay on your device. Processing happens entirely in your browser.

How to use Blur Faces

  2. Check the boxes: drag on the photo to add one, tap a box to switch it off.
  3. Choose the effect and click "Blur faces" to download.

Frequently asked questions

How are faces found?

With Google’s MediaPipe face detector (Apache-2.0), which runs in your browser. The photo is also scanned in four overlapping parts so that small faces in group photos are found too. Faces seen from the side or far away can be missed; add them by dragging a box.

Which effect hides a face best?

"Cover" (a solid black area) can never be undone. Strong pixelation is also very hard to reverse. A light blur may still let people recognise someone, so use a high strength for sensitive photos.

Can I blur number plates or other things too?

Yes. Drag a box over anything you want to hide, such as a number plate, a name tag or a screen. To remove an object completely, use Magic Eraser.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Detection and blurring happen in your browser. The model and code are served by this site; your photos never leave your device. To remove hidden location data too, use Remove Photo Metadata (EXIF).
