Frequently asked questions

How do I paste a screenshot?

Take the screenshot with Win+Shift+S on Windows or Cmd+Ctrl+Shift+4 on a Mac (this copies it to the clipboard), then press Ctrl+V or Cmd+V anywhere on this page.

Which size should I choose?

"Free" keeps your screenshot’s size and only adds padding. 16:9 suits slides and YouTube, 1:1 and 4:5 suit Instagram. "X post" gives exactly 1600 × 900 px and "LinkedIn" 1200 × 627 px (at 1x; 2x doubles both).

What do 1x and 2x mean?

1x keeps the screenshot at its own resolution. 2x doubles every dimension, which looks sharper on high-resolution screens but makes the file bigger. Screenshots taken on a Retina or 4K screen are usually sharp enough at 1x.

PNG or JPG?

PNG is the sharpest for text and supports a transparent background. JPG is much smaller; with a transparent background the empty area becomes white. To shrink the result further use Compress Image.

Is my screenshot uploaded?

No. Everything is drawn on a canvas in your browser and your screenshot never leaves your device. Before sharing, still check that it shows no passwords or personal data: Blur Faces can hide faces and Crop Image can cut parts away.
