How to use Remove Background
- Drop or choose your photos.
- Choose transparent (PNG) or white background (JPG).
- Click “Remove Background”. The model downloads once on first use, then it’s much faster.
Frequently asked questions
Why is the first run slow?
The high-quality AI model (about 115 MB) is downloaded to your browser once and kept. After that there’s no download and each photo takes a few seconds.
What’s the difference between “Best quality” and “Fast”?
Best quality handles any subject (products, pets, cars) and fine edges like hair, and needs GPU acceleration (WebGPU). Fast is small and runs everywhere but is made for photos of people. Without WebGPU the fast model is used automatically.
Are my photos uploaded?
No. The model runs in your browser and your photos never leave your device.
Can I make an ID photo on white?
Yes, choose “White”. Then use Passport & ID Photo Maker to crop it to the right size and print a 4×6 sheet.
